Overview
We are currently seeking a House Director for the Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Phi Mu, Florida State University for the 2025-26 school year. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in customer service, management, and administrative functions, with a proven track record in housekeeping management and property management. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, the ability to manage diverse teams, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service.
The main chapter house sleeps 36 women with a smaller annex housing six women. The House Director reports to the local house corporation and is responsible for providing a safe, clean and welcoming environment for all members of the organization. The local house corporation contracts with a professional collegiate food service provider for meal service for members.
Responsibilities
Provides a safe and productive environment for collegians and staff. Responsible for the coordination of all inspections and ensures compliance with regulations as required by state, campus, or organization policy. Adheres to campus, organization, and chapter policies and rules.
Oversee the opening of the Chapter House at the beginning of the semester, the closing at the end of the semester, and the opening and closing of all official holidays and breaks throughout the school year.
Assist the chef and kitchen staff in the planning of meals served at the Chapter House.
In conjunction with the House Corporation (HC), supervises the kitchen while coordinating input from the collegians.
Manage housekeeping operations, ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of facilities meet company standards.
Coordinate property management activities, including maintenance, security, and vendor relations.
Communicates house maintenance issues to the HC. Manages all minor repairs under $500. Notifies HC of major repairs that exceed $500 with estimates that need to be done. Report immediately to the HC all damages that require insurance.
Purchases supplemental kitchen and cleaning supplies along with other necessary supplies.
Communicates regularly with the chapter president and house manager. Must attend weekly meetings with HC and chapter representatives.
Maintains and is responsible for a petty cash fund for small expenses.
Serve as official hostess for the collegian chapter at all social functions at the Chapter House. Supervise also with the collegian chapter president the atmosphere in the dining room. The House Director should be present at mealtime to make certain all meals are prepared in accordance with the contract provider.
Creates a comfortable atmosphere within the chapter house.
Time Commitment & Benefits
Forty-plus hour workweek with a suite and utilities provided. Must be onsite, overnight, 7 nights per week during the academic year. Prior arrangements can be made for other adult supervision. All meals will be provided when the collegians are in the house. A competitive salary is offered and will depend on experience.

Required Skills
Strong administrative skills with experience in managing schedules, budgets, and resources effectively. Must able to utilize email, excel and on-line banking platforms effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with college-age women, patience, flexibility and a sense of humor.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with students, parents, alumnae, service providers and community resources
Positive solution-focused attitude.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Must be physically active and able to perform normal physical functions including lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, stretching and going up and down several flights of stairs on a daily basis.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must submit to a background check.
